The Carters are at it again. This evening (Oct. 16) at the star-studded 2018 BET Awards, Jay-Z and Beyonce were chosen as the winners of the Album of the Year for their joint effort Everything Is Love.
Unfortunately, The Carters couldn’t be present at the time of the award ceremony to accept it in person, but the first hosts of the evening, Wale and 2018 XXL Freshman Stefflon Don accepted it on their behalf.
Everything Is Love dropped as a surprise joint album from the musical power couple on June 16, in the midst of their On the Run II tour, which they recently wrapped up on Oct. 4 in Seattle, Wash.
With energetic tracks like “Apeshit,” which included adlibs from Migos, and more solemn tunes like “Heard About Us,” fans were understandably shocked and overjoyed with the surprise project. Even more exciting was that the album was made available on both Spotify and Apple Music, which has typically not been the case for previous Bey and Jay albums in favor of Jay-Z’s own streaming service Tidal.
