Bono takes aim at Donald Trump supporters at iHeartRadio Awards

When U2 took the stage at the iHearRadio Awards Sunday night to accept an award, frontman Bono used his time to take a less-than-subtle dig at Donald Trump supporters.

“It’s strange to say that there are places in the world where making music is a crime, where you can go to jail for expressing an opinion, where you can get a punch in the face for disagreeing with some politician somewhere,” he said. “That could never happen here, could it?”

His sarcasm was palpable. After all, it was only a few weeks ago that a Trump supporter named John McGraw punched a black protester in the face at a rally.

McGraw was charged with assault, battery and disorderly conduct. Still, he told Inside Editionafter the incident that the protestor deserved what he got — and that “the next time we see him, we might have to kill him.”
