International Jazz FestivalThe fourth Swansea International Jazz Festival presents over 50 events, including a 14-piece band from Strictly Come Dancing playing Earth, Wind & Fire
The festival opens on the evening of Thursday 15 June with a concert by the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra and closes on the Sunday night with All Fired Up!. There are two concerts on Friday evening – the Stan Tracey Legacy Octet and Joe Stilgoe’s Songs On Film (pictured below) – while Saturday and Sunday each feature five concerts, which begin at 12.00 midday. The festival, programmed by creative director Dave Cottle, is supported by the Arts Council of Wales and the City and County of Swansea and sponsored once again by Prescott Jones Insurance Solutions: the festival patron is Sir Karl Jenkins. Ed Prescott, managing director of Prescott Jones, commented: “We relish our continued support for an event which we think adds a lot to the Swansea cultural scene”. The main, ticketed concerts will take place in the Dylan Thomas Centre and the Dylan Thomas Theatre. Fringe festival events, many of them free, will be presented in around a dozen more venues in the Maritime Quarter.

The 2017 Swansea International Jazz Festival, which runs from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 June, brings some of the biggest names on the UK jazz scene to south Wales in a series of over 50 concerts, workshops and other events. Headline acts include Ruby Turner (pictured right), the Remi Harris Trio, the Stan Tracey Legacy Octet and All Fired Up! – a 14-piece band of musicians and vocalists from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing playing the music of Earth, Wind & Fire.
