Garage Doors Install A How-To Guide

Let’s learn the garage doors install process through Jenny and her dad. Jenny’s dad said he was going to install new garage doors this weekend. Jenny was really excited because the old garage doors were loud and always breaking. She hoped the new doors would be quiet and actually work right.

On Saturday morning, Jenny’s dad went to the hardware store Steel-Line to buy the new garage doors. He had carefully measured the garage so he knew just what size to get. At the store, one of the workers helped him pick out two steel garage doors that would be the perfect fit.

When Jenny’s dad got home, he opened up the boxes and laid out all the parts in the driveway. There were big panels, metal tracks, rollers, cables, springs, and bunches of hardware. He read the installation instructions very thoroughly before even starting the project.

Removing the Old Garage Doors

The first step was taking down the old garage doors. This was hard work. The old doors were so heavy. Jenny’s dad unbolted the panels from the tracks. Then he and Jenny lifted each panel off and leaned it against the side of the garage. They took down the metal tracks and the opener motor too. Luckily they could reuse the opener with the new doors.

Putting Up the New Tracks

Now it was time to attach the new tracks for the garage doors. Jenny’s dad had to make sure the tracks were completely level and spaced just right. He double checked all his measurements to avoid any mistakes. He used long screws to anchor the tracks firmly into the garage framing.

Installing the New Garage Door Panels

After the tracks were up, Jenny’s dad opened the boxes with the new steel garage door panels. Man were they heavy. Jenny helped her dad lift each panel and fit it into the track. They worked together to slide the rollers into the track and connect the panels.

Getting the Springs Right

The tricky part was getting the springs installed correctly. If the springs were wound too tight or loose, the doors would stick and not open properly. Jenny’s dad was very careful putting on the springs and cables. He knew a mistake could mean getting seriously hurt. Once the springs were on, he tested the doors and adjusted the tension until the balance felt perfect.

Finishing Touches

Jenny helped her dad attach the garage door opener motor. She held a flashlight while he mounted it to the ceiling and connected the belt to the track. He programmed the remotes so they could open or close the doors with a click.

After a full day of installation work, Jenny’s dad stepped back to admire their new garage doors. They looked awesome. The clean steel panels rolled up and down smoothly now, thanks to following all the steps just right.

No Mess Ups Here.

Jenny pressed the remote control. The electric motor hummed as the new doors glided up easily. It worked. Because they were careful during the installation, the doors functioned perfectly now. Jenny gave her dad a big high-five for a job well done.

On Sunday, Jenny’s dad added weather seals around the doors to keep the rain and wind out. Then Jenny helped paint the doors a bright white to match the trim on the house. When they finished, the new garage doors looked like they had been professionally installed.

Wrapping it up

Now Jenny loves coming home and seeing the new doors roll up quiet and smooth every time. No more loud, broken doors. Jenny’s dad is happy too, since he saved money by safely installing them himself with no errors. The new garage doors were a successful do-it-yourself project they can feel proud of.
