1. Tell me about yourself and your career so far, how did you become a fashion stylist?
The Florida native “It” girl runs a successful blog at JackieBeardRobinson.org including all things fashion, health and lifestyle in order to assist individuals in reinventing themselves or finding confidence in who they are. Jackie Beard Robinson formerly owned and operated two retail clothing and shoe stores over the past years and worked in fashion for approximately 15 years.
Robinson’s belief is that clothing and clothing choices are a powerful tool in the world and are completely underestimated at times. Her mantra is “fashion is a way to change who you are from day to day without changing your identity.”
This Fashion and Lifestyle Guru aims not only to inspire people through clothing, but seeks to motivate individuals to look and feel better. My background and my education are primarily fitness! I do have a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, from the University of Kansas and I also am an EMT, out of necessity as we travel a good part of the year with our dogs on a boat!
2. What advice would you give an up and coming fashion stylist?
“Aspire to inspire. Wear what you love and love what you wear” ~Jackie Beard Robinson
3. What is the best part of your SHOW Medicine Makeover? What is the most challenging part?
The best part was seeing how relaxed the two women in our first episode was and really enjoying being pampered, while the excitement of the final reveal was building in the entire team.
The challenging part was that they were both being done simultaneously and wanting to see the entire works on both women, I ran back and forth and trying to see it all and guide the team was fun but a bit challenging.
4. How do you choose what looks work for each individual client?
Picking out clothing and describing how I view them was easily transformed with the fab team I selected, choosing looks was a natural grab on clothes or description on hair from highlights to extension, curls to lashes…it’s an evaluation that I love to do and the results are a way of guiding the ladies what to do when they need a pick me up!
5. Do the clothing choices you make at work inspire your personal style?
Style is my work and I love it! Yes, I love to experiment with combinations of clothing and designers, it certainly helps knowing the designers and their passions, it’s a feel good about what you wear process too that adds to the style.
6. What trends are you loving right now?
Hats and hair clips, black sequence outfits and the neck hugger style.
7. If you could choose a personality to give a makeover, who would it be and why?
I’d love to be able to makeover anyone that needs a lift…maybe they are going through a personal struggle, I’d like to help. Maybe they are having trouble getting a job and their confidence needs a boost, I’d like to help. I really want that message out there to write to me and ask for help #JBRmakeovermedicine I’m asking everyone to go into their closets and costume jewelry and hats and give something to a friend that might need a smile and statement that they are being thought of
