Marcus MillerFor its opening night on 16th November, the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival 2017 has chosen a monument to music, faithful to the stage of the Opera Garnier: Marcus Miller who will present excerpts from his new album, due for release in early 2018 (Blue Note/Universal). Marcus Miller, winner of 2 Grammy Awards® in 2010, a Victory of Jazz for his whole career in France, the Edison Award for Lifetime Achievement in jazz in 2013, also appointed as a UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2013, spokesman of the Slave Route project, is not only an unique bassist, an out-of-the-ordinary multi-instrumentalist musician, but also a composer and a gifted producer of exceptional talent. His numerous collaborations with the greatest names in music like Miles Davis, Eric Clapton, George Benson, Aretha Franklin, Brian Ferry, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock or Carlos Santana to name only a few, have shaped his musical environment. Each of Marcus Miller’s appearances on stage with young talented musicians is an event in a universe located between funk, soul and the jazz of today…. To great public acclaim, the artist will be returning to perform at the Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo as part of the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival 2017, for a preview of his new opus (Blue Note/Universal) and as he does for every performance, Marcus Miller will surprise us all.Cory Henry concert à MonacoOpening act: Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles

Cory Henry is a multi-instrumentalist (organ and piano) and New York producer with an impressive career for his age. He is primarily known for harmonically rich organ playing that owes a greater debt to the virtuosic playing of Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson than it does to his peers (Jimmy Smith and other members of the Hammond organ pantheon). At times, he captures the very essence of jazz and gospel in his music and produces a new language from these two components. When he improvises, Cory Henry shows maturity far beyond his years. Unlike many virtuosos, he is also a great sideman. In particular, he has worked alongside Kenny Garrett, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Fallon and Puff Daddy. His impressive improvised performances have ensured a large and loyal following on YouTube. His title, First Steps, which was released in spring 2014, was number one in the jazz category. At the moment, Cory Henry is preparing the release, on 29 September, of his first album “Chapter 1: The Art Of Love”. It features nine original titles illuminated by the spiritual voice and fairy-like fingers of the charismatic artist, the organist and lead singer of the Funk Apostles: Adam Agati on the guitar, Nick Semrad on the keyboards, Sharay Reed on bass and Taron Lockett on drums. Cory Henry is the opening act for Marcus Miller on Thursday 16 November, at Opéra Garnier, as part of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2017.
