SPOTIFY TALKS POLITICS WITH DIPLO

Clarify is a new collaborative venture between Spotify and Mic, and a bold move in a new direction for the streaming giant. Every Tuesday through Election Day, Clarify will host weekly audio and video programming to provide clear information on today’s issues, including musicians talking about topics relating to millennials.

Comedian Baratunde Thurston acts as the show’s moderator directing conversation geared toward millennials, with topics like how average student debt could be used to “watch Netflix for 300 years.”

Diplo was the first guest on the show, and though the acclaimed producer is now far from throes of debt, he recounts the odds being stacked against him when attending Philadelphia’s Temple University. “I took out loans, I borrowed money from my family, I had jobs all the time. Paying rent and just buying food is difficult. That’s the most difficult thing.”

“Everybody I know has debt. I’m a very small percentage, a lucky story where I just happened to strike gold, and I was able to make money in my profession. Thank God. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t make money. I’d be back in Florida. Back in the swamp.”
