The 6 best songs from the Back to the Future films

My Favorite Movies of all time ! BACK TO THE FUTURE and  The inclusion of some of the most iconic songs of the time made the films memorable !

Here are some of the best songs from the films.

Johnny B Goode – Chuck Berry

In a climatic scene from the first film, Marty jumps on stage at his parents’ proms and rocks out this ‘oldie’. Well, ‘oldie’ where he’s from anyway.

It cuts away to Marvin Berry telling his cousin Chuck about this ‘new sound’ he’s been looking for. We are left to presume the rest is history.

Power of Love – Huey Lewis and the News

This song was written specifically for the film by the band Huey Lewis and the News, who would pop up in the film itself during the scene where Marty auditions with his band the Pinheads.

It was a top ten hit in the UK charts and narrowly missed out on an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1986.

One Step Away from Heaven – Eric Clapton

Rock legend Eric Clapton also had a song on the soundtrack of the first Back to the Future film soundtrack.

It was produced by Phil Collins, who is most known for his drum-heavy track In the Air Tonight – can you hear his influence?

Beat it – Michael Jackson

2015 isn’t without its 80s nostalgia in the second Back to the Future instalment.

In this scene, Marty visits a 80s inspired diner and encounters elements of his present, including jumpy footage of Michael Jackson and Ronald Reagan.

It doesn’t take Marty long to get into trouble though, meaning that enjoyment of Jackson’s Beat It is short-lived but sweet.

Doubleback – ZZ Top

Another song written specifically for the series, this time for Marty’s third dabble in time travel.

In Back to the Future III, Marty goes back in time in 1885 to rescue Doc who has got stuck there.

Rock group ZZ Top make a cameo when the characters attend an old Western-style dance and the band perform Doubleback with fiddles, double basses and hand-drums. A bit different than the guitars we’re used to seeing them with.

Later on, a version more like their sound was released on their album Recycler.
