Turning Personal Injury into Professional Purpose: Chris Mova’s Journey From

When you meet Chris Mova, founder of Mova Law Group, you might not guess that a childhood accident set him on his path to becoming a personal injury attorney. But as he’ll tell you, “Life has a way of shaping our paths in unexpected ways.”

Born to Iranian immigrants in Chicago, Mova’s family moved to Northern Virginia in pursuit of the American dream. That dream took a detour when their car was rear-ended, sending 7-year-old Chris headfirst into the windshield.

“My parents, unfamiliar with the legal system, accepted a quick settlement of about $2,000,” Mova recalls. “They had no idea of the long-term consequences of my injury.”

A Childhood of Challenges

Days after the accident, Mova developed a severe stutter — a result of traumatic brain injury. What followed were years of speech therapy, mounting medical bills, and childhood bullying.

“Each day became a battle to communicate, to be understood, to fit in. The emotional toll was significant, but it also fueled a growing determination within me.”

Finding His Purpose

It wasn’t until his teenage years that Mova fully grasped the injustice his family had faced.

“The insurance company had taken advantage of our vulnerability,” he says. “When my parents tried to seek additional compensation for the ongoing medical expenses, they were told they had signed a release and were entitled to nothing more.”

This realization lit a fire within him. Mova committed himself to excelling academically, graduating top of his class in college before pursuing law school.

“My goal was clear: to become the advocate that my family needed all those years ago.”

From San Diego to Los Angeles

Today, you’ll find Mova approaching each case with empathy and determination born from personal experience.

His firm, Mova Law Group, has expanded to serve clients across the state of California from Los Angeles (2362 Westwood Blvd #4a, Los Angeles, CA 90064) to Sacramento (1001 G St #201, Sacramento, CA 95814).

“I’ve made it my mission to ensure that no family faces the same struggles we did,” Mova states.

Speaking of one of his more recent wins, he recounts how “four other law firms had turned away a client, telling them they had no case. We took it on, fought hard for three years, and secured a $450,000 settlement. It’s outcomes like these that remind me why I chose this path.”

A Personal Mission

When you ask Mova about his motivation, he’ll tell you, “I often think back to that scared, stuttering child I once was, and the parents who sacrificed so much to help me recover. Their struggle is my motivation.”

Whether you meet him in San Diego or Los Angeles, you’ll find that every client reminds Mova of his family’s experience. “Each person who walks through my door is confused, worried, and in need of a strong advocate. It’s my privilege and my purpose to be that advocate, to fight for justice with the same determination that saw me through my own recovery.”
