What Makes A Good Signature Accessory?

Accessories can play all manner of roles in your look, as well as in your life. They can heighten your outfits, maintain a practical function, or even be a means of expressing something about yourself. For some people, a signature accessory isn’t just a part of their look, it is their look.

Here, we’re not going to try and tell you what your signature accessory should be to you. We are, however, going to look at some examples of great signature accessories, what they can bring to your outfit and your day, and why each of them is worth considering.

The right piece of wristwear

Watches have long played a major role in signifying all kinds of things about their wearers. While they do have a practical use, they do also exude a certain level of timeless charm and, beyond that, with the right brands, they can give a sense of opulence, class, and prestige, as well. That said, smart techy watches and sports watches each communicate their own messages about the wearer, as well. Find the piece of wristwear that speaks to you for an accessory that has a little more meaning than some of the standard options out there.

Hang it around your neck

A statement necklace can transform a simple outfit into a fashion-forward look. Bold, oversized designs, intricate beadwork, or unique materials like resin and wood can make your necklace a focal point. Choose a necklace that reflects your personality and style. Whether it’s a chunky chain, a colorful bib, or an elegant pendant, a statement necklace can become a defining piece in your wardrobe. Of course, you want to make sure that a necklace that’s supposed to be your statement piece is versatile, as well. You might want to avoid something that doesn’t go with your usual style. If you typically dress lighter and more casual, for instance, you’re not likely to want a more formal and elaborate piece.

Framing your eyes right

The right pair of eyewear, whether it’s prescription glasses, sunglasses, or purely for the aesthetic, can be a distinctive part of your look. Bold frames in unique shapes and colors can add personality and flair to your face. Choose frames that complement your face shape and express your personal style. Cat-eye, aviator, or oversized frames can make a statement and become a recognizable element of your everyday attire.

The right bag can do a lot

Like many of the options mentioned here, so far, the bag has just as much of a practical purpose as it does a fashion utility. It has to play the role of an everyday essential, so it needs to be able to carry everything you bring with you on a daily basis and be able to withstand daily wear. Crossbody bags are a good example of the right mix of form and function. You can choose a design that stands out through unique shaping and details while still being practical and cute.

Look like a movie star

There are few accessories that offer a timeless look quite like the right scarf wrapped around your neck or head. Versatile, chic, and expressive, you can choose scarves of all manner of colors and materials. Wool for warmth, silk for luxury, cotton for something like, and breathable. There are a lot of different ways to style a scarf, too, so you can make sure it fits whatever look you’re trying to complete. You don’t have to just stick to one scarf as your signature, either. Scarves aren’t as commonly seen nowadays, so even making the habit of wearing a scarf your signature could work well.

Your signature scent

A signature scent can leave a lasting impression, making it an invisible yet powerful accessory. Choose a fragrance that resonates with you and reflects your personality, whether it’s floral, woody, spicy, or fresh. Wearing your signature scent regularly can make it synonymous with your presence, creating a sensory association that people will remember. Just be mindful that the right scent can be rather pricey, so you want to choose something that not only fits your budget now but will reliably do so in the future, as well.

No one can decide what makes the right signature accessory for you but you. However, hopefully, with the examples above, we have pointed you in a few directions you can start looking in. At the end of the day, it’s whatever will cross your eye that’s likely to become the staple of your look to come.
